Story
Hi there!
I'm gearing up and making a difference by fundraising for a cause that's close to my heart. The Mark Hughes Foundation funds vital research and support to brain cancer patients and I am going to summit Mt. Maria to help raise funds for this cause!
In March 2022, our beautiful, vibrant Mum was diagnosed with Glioblastoma after a massive seizure and cardiac arrest. Mum had no symptoms prior to this catastrophic event, she was literally healthy and happy, so it came as a massive shock to her, and our family.
We will be forever indebted to our angel Elise, our brain cancer care nurse who was beside us every step of the way. She was our voice, our support and our friend as we navigated our way through diagnosis, treatments, trials, tests and everything we dealt with on Mums journey.
We sadly lost our darling Mum just over 3 months later. Our lives will never be the same. Our family has made it our mission to create a never ending legacy for our Mum by raising funds for the Mark Hughes Foundation.
Sadly we have another dear family member battling GBM currently. Our cousin Jen. She is beautiful and brave and giving it her all to be here for her family in particular her little girl. I’m so proud of her determination to fight this battle no matter what gets thrown at her.
An old school friend recently lost her battle with brain cancer. Penny was just 48 years old with a fabulous husband and 3 teenage kids. They should not have to be navigating life without her. It’s just not right.
And to the little boy who started my passion to raise funds so many years ago for those affected by brain cancer. Samuel Amidy who lost his battle to brain cancer at just 21 months old - changing forever the lives of our beautiful friends and all who love him.
So I’ll trek for my Mum, I’ll trek for Jen, I’ll trek for Penny & Sammy and I’ll trek because it’s all I can do to feel like I am making a difference in those who’s lives were changed the moment that diagnosis came through. To raise funds to continue the support that MHF gives so amazingly to everyone who is touched with brain cancer. And to hopefully, hopefully, one day see a cure for this insidious disease.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to MHF. Thank you for supporting me, your donation is appreciated.
Wish me luck!
